Former Democratic National Committee chairwoman Donna Brazille has a lot to say about alleged dirty, behind-the-scene goings-on and chaos at the DNC, including accusations that the Hillary Clinton campaign hijacked the DNC long before she won the Democratic nomination.
Brazile’s book Hacks: The Inside Story of the Break-ins and Breakdowns that Put Donald Trump in the White House, due out Nov. 7, explains how Clinton used her own money to fund the financially-strapped DNC while expecting to gain control for her own devices.
Brazille claims she had no knowledge about the DNC’s financial situation when she agreed to take over as interim chair. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former DNC chair was “not interested in taking control,” according to Brazille.
Under Wasserman Schultz’s control, the DNC was floundering financially due to Wassherman Schultz mismanagement and on the edge of ruin. A deal was struck with Clinton to “sustain the DNC,” words coming from Clinton’s chief finance offer Gary Gensler, according to Brazille.
Brazille outlines in the book telephone the calls she made to Sen. Bernie Sanders, informing him of the situation. She also claims that she realized a number of things were amiss in the DNC as soon as she took over as interim chair.
In Oct. 2016, Brazille was forced to resign her position as a CNN contributor when Wikileak released an email with Brazille admitting that she gave questions from an upcoming town hall event to Clinton in advance. She claims it was a huge mistake that she will always regret.
Neither Clinton, Wasserman Schultz, Sanders or Barak Obama have commented on the accusations. The full excerpt from Brazille’s book can be read in Politico.
