Daniel Taub’s Outstanding Diplomatic Career

Daniel Taub is an Israeli diplomat cum international lawyer. Taub is the former Israel’s Ambassador to the UK a post he held for the term between 2011 and 2015. Daniel Taub is also an author and currently, holds the position of the director of strategy and planning in the YadHanadiv Foundation.

Early life and education

Daniel Taub was born in 1962 in the United Kingdom. Daniel was raised and pursued his education in the United Kingdom. He attended Aske’s Boys’ School in Hertfordshire after which he joined Oxford University College before proceeding to Harvard University.

Daniel Taub’s Career

1989 saw Daniel Taub relocate to Israel where he joined the Israel Defense Forces to serve as a Combat Medic. He later served as a reserved officer in the international law division of Israel’s defense force.

Taub served as a speechwriter for the then president Chaim Herzog and joined the Country’s foreign ministry in 1991. In the ministry,Taub held several diplomatic, legal as well as political posts. He is proficient in international law with a focus on laws of war and counter-terrorism. As a principal deputy legal advisor in the ministry, Daniel Taub represented his country in numerous multilateral fora.

2011 saw Daniel appointed ambassador to the Court of St James. Taub focused on trade and technology links. This saw him work with Google to introduce the bizcamp start-up competition.

During his tenure, trade between the United Kingdom and Israel increased by double. During this time, the two countries strengthened links regarding academic, commerce and cultural ties. Sajid Javid, (the British Secretary of State for Business and innovation) attests that trade between the two countries has entered a golden era. More than 300 Israeli businesses are operating in the United Kingdom. The period between 2011 and 2013 saw the UK-Israel bilateral trade rise to $8 billion.

Regarding cultural links, Daniel Taub emphasized on inter faith and cross-cultural activities. His efforts had him invited to teach Bible and Hebrew classes at the Church of England Synod and Westminster Abbey. He was involved in many cultural activities and events and outreach to the United Kingdom Israel community. He often reached out to various ethnic and cultural groups hosted in conjunction with other ambassadors.

Apart from working as the Ambassador to the United Kingdom, in 2013 Daniel Taub was appointed as the first ambassador to the International Maritime Organization based in London.

Taub’s term as an ambassador ended in 2015, and he went back to Israel. Daniel Taub currently holds the post of director of strategy and Planning at YadHanadiv Foundation.
