Adding Red, White, And Blue To The Table

The 4th of July holiday is one that is often spent with friends and family. It’s also a time when you can enjoy delicious recipes that can be shared with others and that are usually prepared on the grill. From scrumptious sides to mouthwatering main courses, there are several ideas to try this holiday season.

Peach cobbler, or any kind of cobbler really, isn’t complete without ice cream or whipped cream. The key to a good cobbler is a flaky crust. You also want to use fresh fruits when possible instead of canned fruits to get the best flavors. If possible, use real butter instead of margarine so that you have the flaky crust instead of one that seems a bit more oily.

Bring the patriotic holiday into your recipes with foods that are red, white and blue. A refreshing dish of blueberries, whipped cream, and strawberries, or any berry that’s red, displayed in a flag will show the pride that you have for the country. You could also create a flag using small balls of mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and purple potatoes. Fresh pieces of parsley or other herbs complete the simple dish.

If you want something that’s a bit more spicy, blending with the sparks that are seen from fireworks, consider making a tomato and watermelon salad with a hint of chili pepper. You want to make the salad with fresh produce that you don’t refrigerate so that it doesn’t lose its taste. However, if you want a sharp contrast, then only put the watermelon in the refrigerator so that it has a delicate crunch. Complete the salad with some sprigs of mint and a bit of salt.
